Honest Before Blood Drive!

Blood donation is a noble act that helped save the lives of others. But that does not mean everyone can do it, because there are some questions to be answered before a person donates blood.

Donated blood for other people should be free from contagious diseases, infections or any abnormalities in the blood. Because it required examination (screening) of blood will be donated to others.
dr Tadjoedin Hilman, SpPD, KHOM in discussions "safe blood transfusion and rational" in Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta, Thursday (6/10/2010) said there are several questions that must be answered honestly before berdonor blood, namely:

1.  Do you ever have the test or examination to HIV / AIDS or hepatitis?
2.  Do you ever inject or injected drugs without a prescription (drugs), either once or several times?
3.  If male, have made oral or anal sex with someone other than their partner, and whether using the tool experience (condoms) or not?

4.  Do you ever received money or drugs (narcotics) as a reward of sex (such as   commercial sex workers)?
5.  Are you or your partner has HIV / AIDS?
6.  Are you or your partner ever make contact with someone who has hepatitis B or C?

"If there's one question that the answer is Yes or if you hesitate then indicated by answer yes, then that person should not donate blood. Someone should answer this question honestly, "said UI graduate medical school in 1989.
dr Hilman blood donors also do not recommend to someone who has a problem

  1. Thalassemia
  2. Anemia
  3. Overactive bone marrow produces blood cells so that a high hemoglobin value can even reach 20 g / dl or more (normal 12-14 g / dl)
  4. Infectious diseases can be transmitted through blood such as hepatitis B, C or HIV / AIDS.
  5. Patients recovering from Dengue Fever or Malaria

Also donated blood should also be carried out examinations of antibodies to avoid transfusion reactions, and if necessary transfused blood will be checked on two different occasions. Donors are to be considered :

1. Donors are not menstruating.
2. Weigh no less than 50 kg
3. Minimum age 17 years and not more than 50 years
4. In a healthy condition.
5. Have blood pressure (systolic less than 180, while diastolic less than 100) and normal pulse
6. Not had a cold or cough and a normal body temperature
